2. Climate and air as planning factors
Precipitation


A measure for precipitation is the amount of precipitation in mm. An amount of 1 mm of precipitation is equivalent to 1 l of water per 1 m² of ground.

The average amount of precipitation but also maximum amounts of precipitation have to be considered as for the dimensioning of sewer systems and rain detention reservoirs as well as in city planning.

What is to mention in this context is the very different runoff properties of different surfaces. Floods are often the result of an increasing degree of sealed surfaces.
