Air pollution, ambient air concentration of pollutants

The representation of air pollution follows the air pollution index (see map-VII). For a simplified mapping and at variance with chapter 7, it is categorized into three levels and the areas without measurement data are additionally marked.

1. strong pollution: > 1.5

2. medium pollution: 0.8 - 1.5

3. slight pollution: < 0.8

4. no measured values

Pollution from traffic emissions

The main roads are divided into three categories, according to their average daily traffic loading resulting from current counts and calculations, and represented differently by the width of the map line.

Roads with maximum traffic loading: motorways and similar roads with an average daily traffic volume of > 50,000

Roads with a very high traffic loading: main through roads with an average daily traffic volume of 30,000 - 50,000

Roads with a high traffic loading: other important roads with an average daily traffic volume of 15,000 - 30,000

The given signature indicates high pollutant and noise emissions due to the average traffic loading without representing the individual extents of the polluted areas.
