|
The month of November is notoriously grey and cloudy. Air pollution contributes to this effect as the ambient air concentration of pollutants rises to its high winter level, even if November is still an autumn month. Maximum amounts are reached especially for traffic related pollutants like nitrogen monoxide. This is due to the heavy traffic in November (as a result of few holidays) and to an inversion condition in the ground layer, which frequently occurs and sometimes does not even dissolve during the day. The average temperature is below 6 °C and frosts up to -10 °C are possible. Ice days reoccur and there are more than 10 frost days in the higher district of Hohenheim.
